WHERE IN THIS BEING?

by Mark Otter

Moebius journey -
As I travel I can see
There is just one side.

Words trickle down my mind
..........And gather here in this strange place;
..........These poetry pools,
..........Which reflect something seen unclearly
..........Something from afar

..........Thoughts move eel-like and slow
..........Undulating rhythmically; precise and yet unnamed
..........The words are shimmering
..........My brain reaches out its fat hand
..........Greedy in anticipation
..........Both childish and childlike in its need to know...
..........In the act of grasping, emotions flare up slick and fast,
..........Electric and stabbing, a Genie gone mad
..........Powers unnamable released,
..........Impossible to hold
..........All I can do is ride, or be thrown
..........Either way, when the trip is over,
..........And I try to describe it,
..........Words trickle down my mind
..........And gather here in this strange place;
..........These poetry pools,
..........Which reflect something seen unclearly
xxxxxSomething from afar

Where in this being, is there room for not-being?
Where in not-being, is there room for being?
And if there is no room within,
Then how can there be room without?
Without being, there is no not-being,
Without not-being, there is no being,
Therefore, there is no need to fear not-being,
Unless you also fear being.
This is the fear to see through
So that you may also see the not-fear
That sits at the center of fear.

At the speed that I am watching,
.........the water moves
.........but the river stands still.
.........If I could watch much faster, both would stand still,
.........If I would watch more slowly, I could see both move,
.........As the river cuts through her banks in her desire to be free.
.........In your movements toward freedom,
.........At what speed do you suppose God watches?
