Watching Joseph Campbell on PBS. He says when he learned
about the concept of Sat-Chit-Ananda, he realized he was not
sure about Sat or Chit, but that he got Ananda. He figured if
he stuck with what he knew to be his "Ananda", he would get
to the other two. And did.

Gary Merrill: ... who cares
whether enlightenment exists or not?

Yeah, isn't that the question: "Who cares?"

That type of question is most instructive: a who can't be shown.
Before birth, during life of a mind-body, after it's demise -
what these seemingly 3 phases have in common is that they are
but a series of events, put in a box with the frame of reference
called "a mind-body". And when that box is blown apart, only a bigger
box shows up, contained in a still bigger box, ad limitum :)
What would the boxes have in common?

Only one person really knows how to play ping-pong
Or ride a horse
Or make tea

Only one person can appreciate how food tastes
Or perform mathematical computations correctly
Or read and understand this posting

Only one person at a time, actually
While all have the capacity
It travels between people

A fixed body of perceptions
Shared by all
In a rotational schedule

That is why there is always a champion
Always a loser
And always a chance

The same with 'enlightement'
Spread the word about the best tea
Spread the word about the most excellent enlightenment

Recognize the possibility
So that when it is your turn
You can have it for a moment

Publicize the possibility
Advertise the reality
Because as we know from experience

100 people can drink the best tea as a group
All appreciating the taste seemingly together
This points out the speed of the rotational schedule

So it is not a matter of having and possessing anything
It is a matter of being open to sharing what is
And that is enlightenment.

from her Live Journal: <>

take it off
take it off
gently and sweetly
one concept at a time or fling
off the whole body-mind-world idea
all at once
in reckless abandon
but please please take it all off
